Dhoni in the T20 World Cup 2024? Rohit Sharma Shares His Thoughts
Will MS Dhoni make a sensational return to cricket for the upcoming T20 World Cup? This is the question on every Indian cricket fan’s mind. While there hasn’t been an official announcement from Dhoni himself, Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s recent comments have sparked fresh debate.
During a discussion on India’s T20 World Cup team selection on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, which included Rohit’s former Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist and former England skipper Michael Vaughan, Rohit mentioned that persuading Dhoni to join the team would be challenging, but he confirmed that Dhoni would indeed be in the USA. While Rohit didn’t give a definitive answer, his comments suggest that the selectors are keeping all options open.
Ms Dhoni came to bat for just 4 balls, made a huge impact & that was the difference at the end. It will be hard to convince MS to come to West Indies I guess😂❤️

Here’s what Rohit Sharma said:
“It’ll be hard to convince MSD for sure to come to West Indies, I guess. Uh, he’s sick and tired. He’s coming to the US, though, to do something else. He’s into golf now, so he’s coming to play golf, I guess,”
This statement by Rohit Sharma leaves the door open for Dhoni’s return. It acknowledges Dhoni’s experience and suggests that the selectors value his contribution. However, it also emphasizes the importance of current form and team balance, hinting that Dhoni will need to prove his fitness and be in good touch to be selected.
The video of Rohit Sharma’s comments has gone viral, with fans expressing mixed reactions. Some fans believe that Dhoni’s time in international cricket is over, and the team should focus on younger talents. Others believe that Dhoni’s experience and leadership qualities would be invaluable in a high-pressure tournament like the World Cup.
Only time will tell if MS Dhoni will be sporting the Indian jersey again. But Rohit Sharma’s comments have certainly reignited the debate and given fans a glimmer of hope for a possible Dhoni return.
