Champions Trophy 2025: If India’s Flag Isn’t in Pakistan, Why Is “Pakistan” on India’s Jersey?
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claims that India’s flag wasn’t displayed at Karachi Stadium because the team isn’t playing in Pakistan. Simple logic, right? If so, why does India’s jersey still carry “Pakistan” as the host nation? Why is the tournament branding showing India as a participant under Pakistan’s hosting rights when India won’t step foot on Pakistani soil? The hypocrisy here is as clear as daylight.

Convenient Logic or Double Standards?
When fans noticed the missing Indian flag at the Karachi Stadium, it sparked an uproar. Was this a deliberate snub? A silent protest? Or just another instance of PCB’s tit-for-tat mentality? The PCB quickly scrambled to clarify:
“Since India isn’t playing in Pakistan, their flag won’t be there. Only teams playing at the venue will have their flags hoisted.”
Fair enough, right? Wrong. Because by that logic, “Pakistan” as the host country shouldn’t be mentioned anywhere on India’s Champions Trophy jersey either. India is playing its matches in Dubai under the ICC-approved hybrid model, so why is Pakistan still being credited as the host for India’s games?
If Pakistan is so adamant about erasing India’s presence from its stadiums, why doesn’t it also erase its name from India’s participation? You can’t pick and choose when to acknowledge India’s presence based on what suits your narrative.
The Flag Controversy: Petty or Political?
This isn’t just about a missing piece of fabric. It’s about the deeper mindset. The Champions Trophy is an ICC event, not a PCB event. Every participating nation’s presence should be respected, regardless of where they are playing. Pakistan is hosting this event in name only because even their own board couldn’t convince India to travel there due to security concerns.
No Indian flag in Karachi: As only the Indian team faced security issues in Pakistan and refused to play Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan, the PCB removed the Indian flag from the Karachi stadium while keeping the flags of the other guest playing nations.

And let’s not forget – Pakistan came to India for the World Cup 2023. Their flag was displayed at every Indian stadium they played in. The Indian crowd, despite the fierce rivalry, watched their matches, creating an electrifying atmosphere. But now, when the roles are reversed, Pakistan decides to erase India’s identity from its stadium.
India vs Pakistan – More Than Just a Match
India and Pakistan will clash on February 23 at the Dubai International Stadium. No matter what PCB tries to do, no amount of flag removal or political stunts will take away from the intensity of this rivalry. India isn’t just a participant in this tournament; it’s the team that brings the most viewership, the biggest fanbase, and the highest stakes.
So, PCB can remove flags, make excuses, and try to play mind games, but facts don’t change-
- India is still a part of this Champions Trophy.
- “Pakistan” still appears as the host on India’s jersey.
- And on February 23, all eyes will be on India vs Pakistan – no matter where the match is played.
If the PCB believes India isn’t a part of their Champions Trophy hosting, then they should go all the way and remove their name from India’s campaign, too. Otherwise, it’s just another case of selective outrage and double standards.
