During an episode of Knight Bite, Rinku revealed that his tattoo reading “God’s Plan, Beautifully Done” and a clock showing 2:20 mark the exact moment when KKR picked him in the 2018 IPL auction for ₹80 lakh. That instant, he says, was life-changing.

“When I was picked by KKR in 2018 for ₹80 lakhs, that amount was huge for me and my family. We didn’t have much before that. My family’s life changed completely, we bought a house and arranged my siblings’ marriages,” Rinku shared on famous Youtuber Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out.

He further added, “It was exactly 2:20 or 2:21 when I was picked, and everything changed from that moment.” The tattoo, along with the word “Family”, symbolizes gratitude for that turning point and his deep connection with the Kolkata franchise that believed in him.

‘God’s Plan’ Tattoo and IPL 2023 Magic

Another of Rinku’s tattoos,  the ‘God’s Plan’ design; carries the essence of faith and destiny, intertwined with one of IPL’s most unforgettable moments.

Ahead of India’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Gwalior, Rinku shared that the tattoo’s design was inspired by his legendary five sixes off Yash Dayal during IPL 2023. “Everyone knows that I have a famous saying, ‘God’s Plan.’ I designed my tattoo based on that. The words ‘God’s Plan’ are written inside a circle, which symbolizes the sun,” he said in a video shared by BCCI.

He went on to describe the detailing; each element represents the five sixes he struck in that final over against Gujarat Titans, sealing an improbable win for KKR in Ahmedabad. “It changed my life, and people got to know me. So I thought I would include them in the tattoo,” Rinku added.

That IPL season proved pivotal; he amassed 474 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 149.53, earning a well-deserved call-up to the Indian cricket team.

The Inspiration Behind His Ink

Rinku Singh’s journey into body art didn’t happen overnight. His close bond with former KKR teammate Nitish Rana, who is known for his tattoos, inspired him to explore this form of self-expression. Rinku has often spoken about how Rana, one of his good friends within the KKR camp, encouraged him to get inked.

Additionally, Andre Russell, another KKR stalwart and style icon, also influenced Rinku’s appreciation for tattoos and fitness; shaping elements of his lifestyle off the field. After years of limited chances, his breakthrough came in IPL 2022, where he scored 174 runs at an average of 34.80 and a strike rate exceeding 148. His consistent performances led to an India debut in 2023, and since then, Rinku has become one of India’s most reliable finishers. In T20Is, he has scored 546 runs in 33 matches at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate above 161, while also featuring in ODIs, scoring 55 runs in two games.

He was part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad as a reserve player and later clinched his first IPL title with KKR, contributing valuable runs during the campaign.

In the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Rinku has made 61 runs in four matches at a strike rate over 148, with his highest score being 32 not out. KKR currently sits fifth in the points table and is set to face the Lucknow Super Giants next at Eden Gardens.
