Match number 12 has Kolkata Knight Riders hosting the inform Punjab Kings at the mighty Eden Gardens in a high stakes encounter. The atmosphere in the City of Joy is expected to be electric as KKR returns home desperate to turn their fortunes around after a shaky start to the season with 2 losses in 2 games.

KKR are languishing at the 9th position above crisis-hit CSK after being outclassed by both MI and SRH. The 2026 KKR team is also suffering from major injury concerns, bowlers Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out for the entire season with Cameron Green showing fitness issues to bowl owing to a niggle.

Former title winning KKR captain Shreyas Iyer returns home to repeat the feat with his Punjab team who have won two consecutive games and had a finals appearance last year. The addition of Cooper Connoly in place of Josh Inglis has provided them a much needed ‘X -factor’ in the middle order.

KKR vs PBKS Team Preview

KKR Match Preview

KKR enters this game with a poor record in hopes to turn their fortunes. They need their top order to fire and be consistent. Finn Allen has shown flashes of brilliance but needs to stay for at least 6 over and built a respectable score, 37-year old captain Ajinkya Rahane need to lead from front with solid scores at a healthy strike-rate and Cameron Green must show that the investment in him does not only produce scores of 18 and 2. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been the only silver lining in this with 50+ scores in both the innings.

KKR must consider getting Rovman Powell in for Green if his form continues, this would provide batting depth and also a few overs in the middle.

As for bowling, it clearly looks like Varun Chakravarthy’s bowling is no longer a mystery, in the last two games he has had an economy of 15.50 and 12.00, Harshit Rana is greatly missed and much needed. Vaibhav Arora has been average at best with the supporting cast of Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi also leaking runs. New recruit Blessing Muzarabani has been expensive but has shown clear ability with a 4-fer in the game against SRH. Sunil Narine has been economical but not a wicket taker.

KKR Predicted Playing XI: Finn Allen, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (WK), Cameron Green, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, Blessing Muzarabani.
